Competition is at the heart of the figure skating journey. Triangle Figure Skating Club skaters take the ice at events throughout the year, from local club showcases to regional qualifying competitions sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating.
Types of Competitions
- Local & Regional Invitationals — low-pressure, welcoming events for skaters at every level, often a first taste of competition.
- Sectional & Regional Qualifying Events — U.S. Figure Skating’s official qualifying pathway toward sectional and national competition.
Getting Started
Coaches work individually with skaters to decide when they are ready to compete and which events fit their goals. TFSC supports competitive members with club endorsement, travel coordination, and a cheering section of fellow skaters and families.
Dogwood Open
Triangle FSC hosts the Dogwood Open competition annually, typically in late June or early July. This competition is open both to members of Triangle FSC and to other members of U.S. Figure Skating affiliated clubs or Learn to Skate USA programs.
Registration
Registration for the current Dogwood Open opens in the spring. Starting orders and results links are posted before the beginning of the competition. Prior year results are available on the U.S. Figure Skating leaderboard site.
Member Grants
TFSC offers travel grants and entry-fee reimbursement to help active members offset the cost of competing. Visit our Member Grants page for eligibility details and the application form.
